Color Workshop with Maggie Maggio at Taborspace

with Maggie Maggio

Saturday, Jun 3, 2023, 9:30am – 12:30pm

The Eye Opener Series: An Intro to the Color Literacy Project (Morning Session)
VIA Artistica is a Taborspace partner located on the second floor of Mt Tabor Presbyterian Church at SE 55th and Belmont, Portland, OR.

Maggie invites you to help beta-test newly designed materials for learning about color!

Color is a large part of our everyday lives but we are taught very little about it.  On top of that, what little bit we learned about color as kids is now outdated and, in many cases, wrong.

To help transform how color is taught in elementary schools, Maggie started The Colour Literacy Project as a joint effort of the Inter-Society Color Council of the United States (ISCC) and the International Color Association (AIC). The primary goal of the project is to design a state-of-the-art, multi-disciplinary, foundational color curricula for use by teachers at all levels.

Maggie is interested in critical feedback on the first part of the new curriculum – the Eye Opener Series – and is offering this workshop for anyone interested in learning more about color.

You will get to experience a selection of the hands-on beta-test materials and activities which are part of the current teacher training program with partner schools around the world.  Exercises will include explorations of color illusions, sorting exercises, three-dimensional color, and the comparative mixing of lights, paints, and spinning disks.

VIA Artistica invites you to join Maggie for one of these fun three-hour color exploration workshops.

Note: Maggie will be donating the proceeds from this workshop to the Colour Literacy Project.
