Little bowls

Little bowls

with Laurel Swetnam

Saturday , Jun 4, 2016, 9:30am – 4:00pm

Back by popular demand, this class uses canes (we’ll practice simple ones and learn a couple new ones!) to construct a bowl on glass, using either lightbulbs or glass bowls as a base.  We’ll make feet or a pedestal for our bowls which adds both stability and style.  This class is adaptable – appropriate for beginners who will learn how to combine simple geometric patterns to create a symmetrical bowl,  but also challenging enough for skilled clayers, who can work on larger forms and with more complex cane designs. Using the Laurel’s Simmons Slicer, it’s easy to cut even cane slices.   The bowls are great gifts – elegant containers for earrings, paper clips, etc.  We’ll use Kato clay, which you can bring or buy for $10.00.
